About Bonds Swimming

Bonds Swimming

Bonds Swimming, led by Barrett Bonds, is synonymous with excellence and offers over four decades of experience in providing personalized swim instruction for children learning to swim. With a rich history of 40+ years in the field, Barrett Bonds showcases a rare level of teaching expertise, a standard often elusive in today’s landscape. If your goal is to nurture your child’s confidence, impart essential swimming safety skills, and cultivate a genuine love for swimming, you have arrived at the perfect place.

Bonds Swimming Goals:

Our goal is that if your child falls into the pool, they will turn around and swim back to safety. We would prefer that the child comes to you dripping wet as opposed to floating on their back while mom has to make a rescue.

Our History: Barrett started teaching in 1976 and swam competitively for Millers Swim Gym & the Little Rock Dolphins. She became certified with Red Cross Lifeguarding in 1978 and obtained her Water Safety Instructor certification in 1980. Barrett earned a BS degree from the University of Alabama in Aquatic Exercise and Sport in '85, tutoring under Coach Don Gambril and student coaching under Jack Nelson (Ft. Lauderdale). In 1988, the Bonds worked for Andy Broido at Mission Bay Aquatics in Boca Raton, Florida. In 2006, they collaborated with the Swim America program until '09, when they founded Bonds Swimming in Midland, TX. In 2011, Barrett was inducted into the Arkansas Swimming Hall of Fame. Bonds Swimming has been a member of the American Swim Coaches Association since 2004 and the United States Swim School Association since 2010. Our program is developed using years of experience, teaching the principle that if a child falls, they should swim back to the wall. We also cover Elementary Backstroke, the four competitive strokes, and emphasize water and pool safety in every lesson.

This is a program created to provide you the best lessons for your children.
